It was a cool october morning, just a few days before holloween, when it started happening. Christna walked to school each day, and she used to get jumped by bullies everyday. She did her research and discovered that there was an alternative path she could walk to school everyday and the bullies would stay clear. The only issue is that this path goes by a supposedly haunted, rotting barn. But that really wasnt a problem, you see, because Christina wasn't afraid of ghosts; she didn't believe in them. One day as she was skipping passed the barn on her way to school, the wind kicked up, blowing back her flowing blonde hair, and tugging at her schooldress. She could of swarn she heard a shrill voice in her head: Stop walking past my barn, unless you pay tribute, Or I will rend your mind and soul! This made Christina quicken her pace. On the way home the voice game again: Back again I see, Have you a tribute? it rasped. She tossed an apple at the barn and ran home as fast as she could. Heart pounding away, out of breath, she locked all the doors as fast as she could. The other days she passed the barn she would always toss and apple at the door...

On the night before Halloween, Christina was on her way home from school, (this day she had hungered and eaten her apple in class instead of saving it), and again she past the barn. Have you my Tribute? rasped the voice in her head. She shook her head, nearly frozen with fear, how could she have so carelessly forgotten? She ran home as fast as she can, all the time repeatedly screaming "there's no such thing as ghosts, there's no such thing as ghosts, there's no such thing..."

That Night, the night before the full moon, she lay awake, clearly too scared to sleep. She sat bolt upright when she heard a suspicious sound coming from below her bed. She leaned over to take a look. Slowly peering over the edge of her bed when, ROAR! An ugly monster emerged from the dark of the underside of her bed, claws out, reaching for her... and she SCREAMED! As loud as she possibly could. Then she grabbed the head of the best and wrenched it off...

It was her brother... In a costume... And you can imagine how scared and how angry christina was. She sat on her bed and practically started crying. So sad...

The next day she ran down the path to school, she tried to not even look at the barn as she flew past as fast as she could. Something strange happened, and she didnt know what it was, but something was wrong here. Something was definately wrong... but what was it? She didn't have time to worry about it... she had more important things to focus on, like school. On her way home, sha ran as fast as she could, closing her eyes as she passed the barn, she did not want to see it, not now. The same weird feeling overcame her as she passed. Something was missing, the air felt empty and hollow, and chills ran down her spine. Tonight was halloween, perhaps that was it. Yes just the halloween air; that's what she told herself. That night, before bed, she went into the bathroom to wash her face and brush her teeth, but what she found, was rather disturbing.

Organs, tissue, and blood, all the insides and guts of some poor creature were spewed and splattered all over all of the walls windows ceiling and floor of her bathroom. Creature? No, these were the guts of a human. Her brother had been awefully quiet that night, and she hadnt seen him much after they got home from trick-or-teating; perhaps he was planning to scare her again...

She tried soo hard not to scream. When she turned around to flee from the room, she realized what had felt so wrong earlier that day. When she passed the barn, both times she felt it and now she had figured out waht was missing... The presence. The feeling that something was there, that she was not alone on the path by the barn, and the ever so shrill voice in her head. It wasnt there. Where had it gone? Had she imagined all of it?

She was almost out the bathroom door when, ALL OF THE SUDDEN, the same monster as she had seen the night before under her bed was in front of her. Instinctly her hands went to the head and yanked. She was about to yell "aha!", when she realized, the mask hadnt come off in her hands... and it didnt feel plastic,.... no it felt very real... and then it smiled.

Hello mydearrrr It said in its raspy voice...
